Yesterday I discovered that I am surprisingly better at singing on Rock Band 2. I am horrible on drums. Bass or singing = good...word.

I love RB. (Way more than Guitar Hero, too.) I know some people are sick of those music games or never got into them all together. But I think it's neat. And I really do play instruments, so anyone with that whole "go learn a real instrument" argument can fuck off. :) It's just good, harmless fun.

Whoa, accidental mini rant. Anyways! Went to the mall for the first time in a very good while. Southlake Mall is especially annoying in the summer - only second to the holiday season. But we had to get Greg's birthday present, so yeah. We got him a Cubs beer glass and a vintage Superman poster. That dude is difficult to shop for, let me tell ya.

I also got a new Cubbies decal for my car, since the other got fucked up. And Fon Fon the Bear got replaced! He better not just randomly disappear from my car again...

Hungry, food, now!

GARY | Indiana University Northwest Chancellor Bruce Bergland said all classes at the Gary campus will resume Monday at their regularly scheduled times.
Classes have been suspended for the past two weeks, with parts of the campus under water. Bergland said all parking lots are now dry and all but one building has been cleared for student use.
Due to extensive flood damage, Berglund said, Tamarack Hall will be closed permanently. Built in 1957, Tamarack Hall was the first building on campus and housed student art studios as well as the university's theater.

Okay, I’ve enjoyed this little “vacation” but now reality is setting in. The workload is going to be insane. They’re planning on making classes go longer and/or have them meet on Fridays. The parking lots always flood even with a few hours of drizzle, so this could happen again. Too many students are enrolled, so I paid for a parking permit I never use cause there are literally NO parking spots. But that’s another story… Now I’m worried about my painting class. As a fine arts major, I practically live in Tamarack. All of my painting supplies are in there, and I doubt they’re going to let us retrieve them. Will we be reimbursed? I have no idea, but Monday is going to be a mess.

That's supposed to be me. Me thirty pounds lighter with dyed hair. Me looking like a typical stiff indie kid trying to take artsy pictures of a floor at a show in a cafe.

Yeah, that's me.

So, work sucked and I realized I don't know as much German as I thought. At least Nichole and Lisa taught me how to crochet.

Word.

Laura and I went to the Taste of Chicago yesterday. Our main objective was to see Mike Doughty, but the food was a plus. Tickets were more expensive than we anticipated, so we pooled ours together and shared everything. We had a rib sandwich, pierogies, strawberry cheese cake, and my favorite - samosa. After some grub, we headed over to the music area and tried to get the best seats possible. Doughty came on first and played a great set. I got a little emotional during True Dreams Of Wichita because a) I wasn't sure if he would play any Soul Coughing songs and b) I can recall wanting to see SC really bad everytime they came to Chicago, but I was too young to get in (12). So it was just really cool to finally see him perform, even if it wasn't with SC.

We decided not to stick around for My Morning Jacket and Ray Davies, because the sun was beating down on us quite fiercely. Then we trekked around to find water that wasn't outrageously over priced. (And we did find some!) The rest of our time was spent taking pictures around the city. Good fun. I'm glad I got to hang out with Laura again, since she'll be leaving for Ball Sate around mid August. Always fun times with an old pal. :)

A few pictures. )

Frankie called me earlier, but I didn't realize it was him because he used Shaun's phone. (I hardly ever talk to Shaun.) But how nice of Frankie to remember his dear old band pal. Man, I miss him.

Joel won't be able to come up here until late July. This keeps on getting postponed, and I just feel like I won't see him at all this summer. Bah.

Oh look - capitalization.

I thought I'd have more to say about graduation, but I don't. All there is to say is that I cried because I'll miss some people and it feels great knowing I don't have to go back. Cliche, right?

Wednesday: Went to Chicago with Matthew. Art Institute = fun.
Thursday: Worked 9-6. Not so fun.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Michigan. Relaxing.
Tomorrow: Work.

That's all.
